There are many forms of yoga and there is no right or wrong way to practice thought there is an age old adage stating that yoga without love is like eating without food.
Any age culture size or shape can practice. Yoga is a vast science of spiritualisty, and not a religion. Yoga transcends difference by going to the root of all cultures and differences.
There are four paths of yoga, bhakti yoga, meaning devotion, karma yoga meaingin service, jnana yoga which is the yoga of knowledge and hatha yoga which is physcial practice. Hatha yoga is the yoga commonly taught in classes today which consist of physical postures, conatining their own magical and purifying benefits. Ha means sun and tha means moon. Yoga is a balancing of male and female, mind and spirit, body and soul, sun and moon.
Originally formutlated to enable the body to sit for meditaiton for many hours without being hurt, there are many techniques to yoga.
One technique is to allow the body to move as it feels. Moving and connecting to ones own soul in the process.
Kundalini is known as the serpent power which sits in the spine. It is said through certain yogic pratices to awaken, and give insight into universal consciousness. Allowing the body to move as it wishes can awaken the kundalini, and allow the kundalini energy to move through the body. If the body and mind can allow complete surrender to the kundalini, profound bliss is experienced. There is a form of yoga called Kundalini yoga however one should never attempt to force the kundalini to awaken. It should be a natural process, experienced through a steady practice of yoga and meditation. Similarly with Bikram yoga, yoga practiced in intense heat. This causes the body to contract into positions it is not ready for.
Also for the delicate nasal passages. One must be more gentle.
Pranayama is an important part of yoga. Prana means energy, and pranayama is energy control through breath control. There are many techniques available, all very useful.
A daily practice of yoga need not consist of more than ten to fifteen minutes. Yoga practiced with meditation and a healthy balanced diet enables peace, spiritual harmony and bliss in ones daily life.
Although allowing the body to move as it feels is beneficial also praciciing the traditional postures is of immense benefit. Each individual posture ofers a variety of different benefits, and ones practice can be tailor made to support ones health.

Ten Myths About Manglik Dosha (Mars Blemish) Insight On Role Of Mangal

A Manglik has to marry a Manglik only or otherwise the spouse dies. 2.A person can be a Double Magnlik 3.A person can be Triple Manglik 4.A person can be a Quadric-Manglik 5.Mangal dosha if prevalent , vanishes at a certain age, mostly 28 years 6.Mangal Dosha dalays one’s marriage 7.Presence of Mangal in 1/2/4/7/8/12 houses from Ascendant makes one Manglik. 8.Manglik Dosha is also seen from the lunar chart. 9.There is no remedy of Mangal Dosha, if it is found later that one of the spouses is a Manglik. 10.It shall be OK to solemnise a marriage between a non Manglik female to a Manglik male.

Mangal or Mars is intrinsically a cruel planet but it also represents for vigour, vitality, energy etc in ones horoscope. In a female horoscope it is the karaka of the menstrual cycle. Mangal has the lordship of two Rashis namely Aries or Mesha and Vrishchikka or Scorpio and they are the 1st and 8th respectively a combination which is not considered good in Vedic Astrology. Mangal, in addition to where placed, influences other houses through its aspect ( Dristhi) as well and those are the forth , seventh and eighth from it placement. As intrinsically it is a cruel or not forgiving planet its placement in certain houses was not considered good and the native was termed as Manglik even if the planet was considered good for the horoscope due to its lordship. This Manglik term has been coined in modern times and there is no mention of this Dosha in our ancient texts. This clearly shows that this Dosha was seen at par with other Dosha and was not hyped as it has been done in the modern times. The present day Astrologers term a native Manglik when Mars is placed in 1,2,4,7,8,or 12th house from the ascendant and to make the matter even worse some astrologer even see it from the lunar chart.

Let us shed away all the fears Mars carries on its shoulders.

1.It is not necessary that a Manglik marries a Manglik. If a person has to die after marriage it will due to the influence of his own planet and not due to wrong placement of Mars in his spouse’s horoscope. The death inflicting tendencies will be in the natives own chart. The matching of chart has to be done correctly to check the probability of this occurrence. 2.Like wise double Manglik is also an imaginative prospective coined by greedy astrologers. Ketu , who intrinsically is like Mangal can have the potential to make a person double manglik but even here its placement in the house has to be properly studied, as it behaves and results in the manner of the lord of the house where it is placed. 3.As described above triple manglik is a not existent thing in Vedic Astrology. 4.Similarly Quadric Manglik is also an imaginary yoga created by virtue of greed of the astrologers. 5.If a person happens to be a Manglik then he remains so and it does not get washes away at any age. 6.Mangal is in no way responsible for your late marriage. If it has happened there is some other combination which has failed to attract you and your astrologers. 7. Mangal influences three houses in addition the house where it placed and if we will find that if Mangal is situated in other house than the manglik houses then also it will put a considerable effect on the manglik houses. For example if Mangal is placed in ninth house of the horoscope of an individual, then it will be spoiling the 12th and 4th house by forth aspect and 8th aspect respectively. Therefore placement of Mangal in ninth can also be described as a Manglik position, like wise other non-manglik position can bring the same results. That means we all have misunderstood the concept of Mangal and created a thumb rule to describe the ill effects of Mangal for those people who do not wish to understand the basic concept. Without understanding its placements, its constellation and other finer points no one can be described as a Manglik. 8.Mangal Dosha is never ever seen from the lunar chart. If we combine both, no one in this world shall be a non -manglik. 9.There are various methods propagated in Vedic Astrology, which can lessen the effect of Mangal Dosha, but the correct method should be chosen with caution, only after a good verification of Horoscope /kundli or otherwise the effects may not be lasting. 10.Never ever pack off your non- Maglik daughter to a man who is a proven Manglik without making their charts match as it can fetch long lasting effects.

Yoga For Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic and currently incurable condition in which too much glucose (sugar) is present in the blood.

In a nut shell, the problem with people suffering from diabetes is that they cannot utilize the glucose in their blood. Glucose is a simple sugar and the body cells use this glucose and convert it into energy. A hormone called Insulin is the key which opens the door that lets glucose into the cells so that the cells can use them to make fuel. In Diabetes the hormone Insulin is either produced insufficiently, or the body resists the action of Insulin on cells. So the glucose builds up in the blood, and it goes waste as the glucose cannot reach inside the cells.

Other facts worth knowing:

Our mental stresses also dump glucose in the blood and not just food! (under the influence of stress hormones)

Too much fat, especially in the abdomen will give rise to insulin resistance.

The cells of muscles that are exercising dont need insulin to open up their doors to let glucose in! Their doors are open independent of insulin levels or sensitivity.

Why Yoga for Diabetes?

Stress management:

Regular practice of Asanas, Pranayama (breath regulation), and Meditative techniques have been proven to reduce perception of stress and anxiety. Regular practice of all these will help us better manage our daily stresses by making us better understand ourselves and our relations to others and the outside world. After all, Yoga is a journey of self discovery.

Controlled diet:

Regular practice of Yoga creates a positive shift in our habits by encouraging a healthy reconnection to food and by development of physical empowerment through cultivation of present moment awareness. Yoga also brings about a balance in the bodily processes (nervous and hormonal functions) and in the emotions which lead to an overall reduction in the quantity of food consumed, decreased eating speed and an improvement in food choices. Yoga also makes us feel more connected to and positive about our physical well being.

Thus, with regular practice we will become naturally conscious of the food we consume, and we develop the awareness of whether a particular thing is right to do or not.

Regular exercise to burn the excess glucose:

It is a well known fact that active muscles do not require insulin to utilize glucose. So when our muscles are working, not only is the excess glucose being used up, but also the sensitivity of other cells to insulin increases.

Although we dont want to consider asanas as just exercises, lets face it! A lot of muscles are definitely acting so that we can get into a posture or maintain it. And since the leg muscles are some of the bulkiest muscles of the body, all the leg work done in maintaining asanas like chair posture or warrior postures will definitely use up a lot of glucose. It is also just as well to know that the regular practice of asanas and practices like kapalabati will also revitalize the internal organs by massaging them slightly.

YOGA PRACTICES COMMONLY USED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES:

Asanas: Parivritta Trikonasana, Uthkatasana, Veerabhadrasana, Vakrasana, Ushtrassana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Sarvangasana, Matsyasana.

Pranayama: Kapalabati, Nadi shodhana, Sitkari, Bhramari.

Yoga – 5 Yoga Habits To Better Health

Yoga is of the mind as ayurveda is of the body. As the mind is being constantly bombarded with information and going through thoughts, we have created many more diseases which we have to contend with. To live a happier existance and understand ones purpose in this life time, the mind needs to be calm and come under the control of the individual. The mind and body need to be fully connected and functioning together to be able to live in harmony and be disease free. Here are a few simple discipilines which if followed will have a major affect on a person’s whole being.

1- Practice some postures on a daily or weekly basis to help the body stay igile and flexable. As the body consumes more physically and mentally, stiffness and rigidity set into the bones and muscle. Yoga postures will keep the body supple so you will be able to sit quietly for meditation. In today’s age this is a fundemental necessity to be flexable.

2- Concentrate on your breathing to see what kind of rhythm is ‘normal’ to you. Do you take short breaths or do you stop breathing at times? Start to take a full breath as your stomach protrudes and your chest expands. When exhaling the chest relaxes and the stomach is sucked in a little. The breath should be through the nostrils and in a calm, deep and meditative manner to bring balance to the male/female or the hot/cold energy in our being. Breath is life so watch your breathing at all times.

3-Avoid overloading the senses by excessive behaviour and habits. Once the senses are over stimulated with too much food, drink and thoughts they disrupt the balance and harmony of the mind/body where a person finds it difficult to function naturally. The best way to control the senses is to avoid any excess and to also refrain from indulging in all activities, talk or desires which come to mind or are presented by others. This will cultivate discipline and help lower a person’s ego mind and out of control desire of ‘wanting.’

4- Be in silence some part of the day without noise or talking. Once the environment is quiet the mind will be more alert to what is going on in the body. Silence is necessary for us to be able to digest food and to digest information which comes invisibly through higher awareness. We connect to a higher level of consciousness once the noise pollution has been lowered. This is wonderful also for the nervous system which controls most of the body and mind.

5- During the day periodically watch your thoughts to identify what is entering your mind and which thoughts are more dominant and repetitive. Once you see a pattern, think back to the origin where and from whom this way of thinking came about. Move away from any judgement or expectations and just observe each thought to see its origin. Through the practices mentioned above the mind and thoughts will eventually be under your command.

Start to practice as no one can do this for you. A yogi or guru can guide but can never do the work which is up to each individual. The change you are looking for is in your control but first through choice one must take action.
